Eîdos comes from the Greek word meaning: something seen, the shape and form of ideas that form distinctive expression of a culture or social group. Here we explore the way ideas take their shape and form through the arts.

Ira has worked full time as a professional photographer since 1989 and was nationally certified as a commercial photographer by the Professional Photographers of America in 1995. His work emphasizes storytelling whether it be in words or photographs. He works with digital and film based cameras up to 8×10.
In addition to his work as a photographer he has taught still photography, digital media production, and documentary filmmaking at Spokane Falls Community College since 1997 and served as chair of the Applied Visual Arts department for eight years, president of the Northwest Region of the Society for Photographic Education for 3 years, and has also served on the board of directors for the Professional Photographers of Washington and the Spokane Film Project.
He divides his time between making photographs, writing, teaching and serving as editor and publisher of EIDOS Artworks journal.
